Minda Industries Limited (MIL), has introduced the Auto Motive battery brand “Vroom” in the market. In the first phase of the launch batteries for 2 wheelers have been introduced. The batteries aim to cater to the growing demand of quality batteries both from OEM’s as well as in the Replacement Market.

Vroom is manufactured in the Ultra Modern latest technology plant set up by Minda Industries at Pantnagar, Uttranchal. The Greenfield plant has been set up with an investment of Rs.50 crores and has a capacity to produce 4.2 million batteries. These batteries are being produced in technical collaboration with the European leader in batteries FIAMM SpA of Italy.

Initially three types of batteries have been launched for 2 wheelers – long life batteries, maintenance free batteries and time proof batteries. The warrantees on Vroom range from 15 to 36 months, depending upon the model and the type. The batteries are available across the country through the excellent after sales and service arm of the Minda Group, Switch Masters Limited. There are already over 300 distributors covering the length and breadth of the country who are stocking and distributing the batteries. 

The high end VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) batteries are called Minda Time Proof batteries and are the latest technology in Lead Acid batteries, the Plates are special grade of Calcium in both positives and Negatives. These batteries have the ability to recombine the hydrogen and Oxygen inside the battery itself – therefore there is very little water loss. Dangerous gases are not emitted into the atmosphere so these batteries are more environment friendly. Minda Time Proof Batteries are specially factory charged and sealed making them totally spill proof, totally tamper proof and totally maintenance free.  

Minda Time Proof batteries are the first organized sector VRLA batteries manufactured and marketed in the India.  

Maintenance Free Batteries are made from Lead Antimony and Lead Calcium. The calcium alloy is special grade which gives ultra low water loss and hence increasing the life and performance of the battery. At present only Minda is offering Maintenance Free batteries in 2 wheeler segment in all the variants (on the basis of Ah). 

The Long Life Batteries are the Conventional flooded batteries, and are also made of plates made from Lead Antimony and Lead Calcium. The composition of the alloys results in low water loss and hence results in long life of battery.

All the 3 types of batteries- Long Life, Maintenance Free and Time Proof are available in all the 3 sizes, i.e 2.5 Ah, 5.0 Ah and 9.0 Ah.
